CHAPTER 40: The Cadence of Forever

The evening sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in a deep, peaceful violet. Every step Sarah took as we turned back into the living room produced that familiar, rhythmic, metallic click against the hardwood floor.

But to me, to Arthur, and to every family that had been saved by the foundation we built, that sound was no longer an echo of a tragedy. It wasn't a symbol of a broken limb or a traumatic survival.

It was the steady, unyielding heartbeat of justice.

We had survived the viper's nest. We had broken the elite circle that thought they owned our lives, our worth, and our names. As I closed the front door behind us and turned the deadbolt, the silence that followed was no longer suffocating.
