CHAPTER 34: The Chaos of the Rain
The loading dock erupted into pure, unadulterated chaos. The mercenaries opened fire on the armored transport, the muzzle flashes illuminating the rain like a series of violent strobe lights.
I tackled Victor Vance into the mud, my fists connecting with his jaw before he could draw his weapon. Eleanor screamed, scrambling backward into the interior of the sedan, trying to use the armored glass as a shield.
Sarah moved with military precision. She dragged Arthur behind a stack of industrial steel pallets, shielding his frail body with her own. A stray round struck the concrete column beside her, showering her shoulder in white dust, but she didn't flinch.

"Secure the perimeter!" Miller yelled, his team of state troopers spilling out of the transport, their weapons suppressing the mercenary line with overwhelming force.
Victor Vance managed to kick me off him, scrambling into the driver's seat of the sedan beside Eleanor. The engine roared to life, the tires spinning wildly in the mud as he slammed the vehicle into reverse, tearing away from the loading dock into the dark pine woods.
