Chapter 10 - Z

One year later.
The annual Grand Horizon Group Gala was held at the newly renovated Mendoza Financial Center in downtown Manhattan. The ballroom was breathtaking, lit by warm crystal chandeliers, decorated with elegant arrangements of white lilies and silver accents.
Over three thousand guests filled the room—heads of state, global tech leaders, financial titans, and international press.
Unlike the gala eighteen months ago, there was no air of scandal, no hushed whispers of betrayal, and no toxic tension hiding beneath the surface.
I stood near the top of the grand marble staircase, dressed in a stunning navy velvet gown designed specifically for me. Around my neck hung my grandmother's diamond necklace—restored, cleaned, and sparkling brilliantly under the chandeliers.
Beside me stood Luke, looking handsome and completely at home among the elite of the financial world.
"They're waiting for your speech, Chairwoman," Luke whispered with a slight, humorous grin.
"Are you ready, Vice Chairman?" I asked, looking at my son.
"Always," he replied, offering me his arm.
Together, we walked down the grand staircase as the entire ballroom erupted into thunderous, genuine applause. Investors, employees, and old friends cheered, looking up at us with profound respect and admiration.
I stepped up to the podium, looking out over the sea of faces.
"Welcome, everyone," my voice echoed clearly through the hall, steady, warm, and powerful. "Tonight, we do not just celebrate financial metrics or corporate expansion. Tonight, we celebrate resilience. We celebrate the truth that a foundation built on integrity, family, and honor can never be torn down by greed or deception."
I raised my champagne glass toward the crowd.
"To the memory of Lawrence Mendoza," I said, my voice rich with pride. "And to the bright, unstoppable future of Grand Horizon."
"To the future!" three thousand voices echoed back in unison.

Glasses clinked, music filled the room, and the gala began.
I looked at Luke, who raised his glass to me with a subtle, knowing smile. Together, we had turned a tragedy into an empire, proving to the world that no matter how dark the night, the dawn belongs to those who dare to fight.
