Chapter 10

Chapter 10 - GOLDEN SKIESOne year later. The morning sun rose over the Maine coastline, painting the ocean in brilliant shades of gold, pink, and amber. Clara stood on the porch of her cottage, a warm mug of coffee in her hands, watching the beautiful horizon. The Miller estate had been liquidated, the family name completely erased from high society, and both Ethan and Eleanor were serving long, consecutive sentences in federal prison.
Behind her, a joyful gurgle echoed from the living room. Little Liam, now a happy, chubby one-year-old, was crawling across the plush rug, chasing a soft plush toy. Leo Vance stepped out onto the porch, carrying a tray of fresh breakfast pastries, a warm, genuine smile on his face.
"The final legal paperwork came through this morning, Clara," Leo said softly, standing beside her and looking out at the golden sea. "The Miller name is legally wiped from Liam’s birth certificate. You have sole custody, absolute freedom, and a completely clean slate."

Clara turned to Leo, her eyes filling with tears of pure happiness, not sorrow. She looked back at her son, who was now laughing as he tried to stand up using a chair for support. The shadows of her past were completely gone, replaced by the warmth of a bright, beautiful future.
She took a deep, clear breath of the salty ocean air, feeling the golden sun warm her face. The glass had been shattered, the storm had passed, and ahead of them lay nothing but wide, open, golden skies.
