Chapter 9 - CLEAN SWEEPZ

Three months later.
The morning sun reflected brilliantly off the surface of the backyard pool at the estate. The pale stone walls looked bright and pristine under the clear California sky.
A team of high-end real estate agents stood near the long driveway as a massive "SOLD" banner was draped across the front gate post. The house had sold for fourteen point five million dollars in an all-cash deal to a European venture capital executive.
Claire stood on the back patio, wearing a simple white silk blouse and tailored trousers, holding a cup of hot coffee.
Victoria Sterling walked out onto the patio, holding a leather folder containing the final closing settlement papers and court decrees.
"It's official," Victoria said with a wide smile, handing Claire a pen. "The sale proceeds have been cleared into your primary private trust. Ethan’s asset seizure proceedings are complete. The bank recovered what was left of his shell accounts, and the rest of his debt was wiped out through involuntary bankruptcy."
Claire signed her name on the final line of the deed transfer. "And his family?"
"Richard and Eleanor had to sell their home in Chicago to pay off the legal fees and civil penalties stemming from the burglary incident," Victoria explained. "Lily moved back into a small rental apartment, working as a retail manager. They won't be bothering you ever again."
"And Ethan's trial?"
"He took a plea deal yesterday morning," Victoria said, leaning against the outdoor counter. "Twelve years in federal custody for wire fraud and attempted trade secret theft. No parole eligibility for at least eight years."
Claire placed the pen back into Victoria's folder. She felt a profound sense of relief washing over her. The ghost of Ethan Vance had finally been erased from her life.
"What's your next move, Claire?" Victoria asked curiously. "You have over twenty-five million in liquid capital now, plus the new patent architecture."
Claire looked out across the pristine blue water of the pool. For years, she had been running—running to build a company, running to keep a marriage together, running to protect her assets. Now, for the first time in her life, she didn't need to run anywhere.
"I signed a lease on a commercial building in Silicon Beach yesterday," Claire said, a genuine spark of excitement returning to her eyes. "I'm starting a venture incubator."

Victoria raised an eyebrow. "An incubator?"
"Specifically for female founders," Claire smiled warmly. "I'm going to provide seed capital, legal protection, and mentorship to women who are building tech companies—so they never have to rely on anyone else to validate their worth."
