Chapter 4

Chapter 4: A New Foundation
A year after the trial, the Castillo estate was hosting its first major gala since Elena’s disappearance. The event wasn't a superficial showcase for high society; it was the grand launch of The Awakening Foundation—a global non-profit organization fully funded by Alejandro and chaired by Elena, dedicated to tracking missing persons and exposing illegal medical facilities across Europe.
The grand ballroom was magnificent, filled with soft classical music and the low hum of elegant conversation. The white marble floors, once stained with spilled wine and bitter tears, were now covered in elaborate floral arrangements of white roses and orchids.
Elena stood near the grand staircase, wearing an elegant emerald green silk gown. Her hands, though still bearing the faint, faded lines of her past labor, were held high with grace and dignity.
Alejandro walked up behind her, slipping his hands gently around her waist and pressing a soft kiss to her shoulder. “You look absolutely radiant, Madame Castillo.”
Elena leaned back against his solid chest, a genuine laugh escaping her lips. “I was just thinking about the last time we were all in this room. It feels like a lifetime ago.”
“It was a different lifetime,” Alejandro murmured, turning her around to face him. “The people we were back then are gone. But the people we are today are stronger.”
He looked down at her with an intensity that still made her heart skip a beat. Then, his hand moved lower, resting gently against the slight, unmistakable curve of her stomach.
A collective wave of joy had swept through the estate weeks ago when the private doctor confirmed the news. After all the darkness, a new life was growing—a definitive symbol of their rebirth.
“Are you tired?” Alejandro asked softly, his eyes full of maternal concern. “We can slip away early. Let the guests enjoy the banquet on their own.”
“Not yet,” Elena smiled, placing her hand over his. “I want to dance with my husband first. I want everyone to see that we didn't just survive.”
Alejandro smiled, the lingering shadows of his three-year grief completely evaporating under her gaze. He led her down to the center of the marble floor. As the orchestra transitioned into a slow, sweeping waltz, the crowd parted, watching them with a mixture of reverence and awe.

As Alejandro spun her gently under the golden light of the chandeliers, Elena looked around her home. The walls no longer felt like a prison, and the luxury no longer felt cold. She was no longer the missing wife, and she was certainly no longer the servant.
She was Elena Castillo, completely whole, deeply loved, and finally, undeniably home.
