CHAPTER 4: THE QUESTION NOBODY WANTED ASKED

Gasps spread through the crowd.
The impossible had happened.
The champion had fallen.
But nobody was looking at the scoreboard anymore.
They were watching Judge Rowan.
The veteran official walked toward Lane Seven.
Every step increased the tension.
Reporters followed.
Cameras turned.
Athletes stopped packing their gear.
Finally, Rowan stood before Evelyn.
His eyes remained fixed on the tattoo.
"That mark..."
His voice trembled.
Evelyn didn't answer immediately.
Instead, she slowly rolled up her sleeve.
The star became fully visible.
The arena fell silent.
Then Rowan asked the question.
"Who was your grandfather?"
Evelyn's expression never changed.
Yet the answer hit the arena harder than any gunshot.
"Thomas Cross."
Several older officials visibly flinched.
One dropped a clipboard.
Another looked away.
May you like
Because they remembered that name.
And suddenly a secret buried for thirty years began clawing its way back into daylight.
