CHAPTER 2: THE PERFECT SHOTS

The signal sounded.

Competitors raised their rifles.

The arena became silent.

Mason fired first.

His score appeared instantly.

Excellent.

The crowd applauded.

The champion smiled.

Then Evelyn fired.

CRACK.

The target flashed.

Near perfect.

A few spectators noticed.

Then another shot followed.

And another.

And another.

Every score landed near the exact center.

The scoreboard updated repeatedly.

The numbers confused people.

Then they shocked them.

Mason's smile slowly disappeared.

Coaches exchanged nervous looks.

Officials leaned forward.

This wasn't luck.

This wasn't a fluke.

This was mastery.

Years of mastery.

Shot after shot, Evelyn carved impossible patterns into the targets.

The arena grew quieter with every trigger pull.

The same people who had laughed minutes earlier now watched in disbelief.

By the halfway mark, she had overtaken Mason.

By the final sequence, she was dominating him.

The reigning champion suddenly found himself chasing a ghost.

And ghosts were difficult to defeat.
