Chapter 11 - A New Dawn

Six months later, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom along the riverbank near my townhouse. The air was warm, smelling of fresh grass and spring rain.
I stood on the back deck, holding a glass of white wine, watching the sun set over the water. The shattered glass door had long since been replaced, and the garden was thriving, filled with colorful tulips and fragrant lavender.
The sliding door opened, and Claire walked out, holding her own glass of wine. She looked radiant. The dark circles were gone, replaced by a healthy, vibrant glow.
"Sophia just sent the quarterly financial report," Claire said, leaning against the railing beside me. "Mercer Dynamics stock has fully recovered. The clean-energy propulsion system launch was a massive success. We’ve secured three major contracts with international shipping fleets."
"And your new role?" I asked, smiling.
"The board voted today to remove the 'interim' tag," she smiled, her eyes shining. "I am officially the Chief Executive Officer of Mercer Dynamics."
"CEO," I murmured, a deep, profound pride warming my chest. "Your father would have been so proud, Claire. I know I am."
"I couldn't have done it without you, Mom," she said softly, resting her head against my shoulder. "You saved my life."
May you like
"No, Claire," I said, wrapping my arm around her. "I just opened the door. You were the one who had the courage to walk through it."
We stood together in the gathering twilight, watching the lights of the city begin to twinkle in the distance. The storm had passed, the shadows had been dismantled, and a new, beautiful dawn had finally arrived.
