Zero nine

Chapter 1

PART 1

Eight years after my daughter disappeared, I saw a tattoo of her portrait on a young man’s arm.

His answer left me speechless.

Eight years ago, my only daughter disappeared during our vacation by the sea.

After celebrating her tenth birthday, we were enjoying our stay at the beach, and that was where everything happened.

I turned away for a moment to look for my glasses in my bag, and within seconds, my daughter was gone.

At first, I thought she had gone to play with the other children on the beach.

But when all the children went back to their parents, she was not among them.

I began searching everywhere, but no one had seen her for hours.

We went to the police station, and the news spread quickly.

Everyone was talking about the mysteriously missing girl.

Some people thought the sea had taken her, but the water was calm that day.

Others suspected a kidnapping, but the searches led nowhere.

The weeks passed, and over time, hope faded.

Three years later, my husband became ill and died, his heart broken by the loss of our daughter.

Eight years later, I saw a group of young people on the street.

As I looked more closely, I noticed a tattoo on one of their arms.

I froze, because it was a portrait of my daughter.

I asked him who that girl was.

His answer left me speechless.

That year, I worked for a strange man.

One day, by chance, I saw a group of people taking a crying little girl away near the beach.

At that time, I was too young to intervene, but the girl’s face stayed engraved in my memory.

So that I would never forget her, I got a tattoo of her image.

Hearing this story, a chill froze me in place.

My daughter had not drowned.

She had been kidnapped.

But by whom?

And where was she now?

The police reopened the disappearance case, questioning the young man and searching for witnesses.

They discovered that, eight years earlier, several suspicious people had been seen near the beach, suggesting possible human-trafficking activity.

Although the investigation is still ongoing, to me, that tattoo represented one certainty:

my daughter is alive, somewhere, waiting to return.
