Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

Three weeks later, the Azure Crown Beach Club was silent. The glass pavilion had been dismantled, the crystal chandeliers removed, and the property seized by the federal government.
The Atlantic Ocean was calm, its blue surface reflecting the bright morning sun.
I stood on the sand, looking out at the water. My left arm was in a sling, the wound healing cleanly, but the real healing was happening inside.
The news had been filled with the trials. Charles Vance, Vanessa Vale, and dozens of others had been indicted. The Ghost Syndicate had been systematically dismantled, its assets seized and its members arrested.
The name Captain Elena Cross was no longer a secret. It was a symbol of justice, a reminder that the truth always found a way to the light.

"You weren't broken, Elena," he said, his eyes warm and full of love. "You were just waiting for the right person to help you carry the weight."
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, velvet box.
He opened it to reveal a beautiful, simple platinum band, identical to the one Vanessa had mocked at the party.
"I think we need a new wedding," he said, a soft smile touching his lips. "No politicians. No media. No high-society guests. Just you, me, and a quiet beach."
I felt a tear slip down my cheek, but for the first time in six years, it was a tear of joy.
"I'd love that, Daniel," I said.

He slipped the ring onto my finger, his grip warm and steady.
We stood on the beach, looking out at the horizon, ready to face whatever the future held. We had survived the storm, and now, the dawn was finally ours.
