Chapter 9 - The Retribution

On Monday morning at nine o'clock, the annual general shareholder meeting of Whitmore Enterprises was convened in the grand auditorium of the Wall Street headquarters.
The room was packed to capacity with hundreds of investors, board members, financial analysts, and journalists. The air was electric with anticipation.
I walked onto the main stage wearing a crisp white blazer, taking my seat at the center of the executive panel. Daniel stood at the podium, looking out over the crowd with absolute command.
Without Julian’s voting proxy and with Sebastian’s withdrawal, the opposition bloc had completely shattered.
“Good morning, shareholders,” Daniel began, his voice ringing powerfully through the auditorium. “The past week has tested the strength, integrity, and resilience of this company. Evil men and manipulative grifters attempted to exploit our open doors and turn our own legacy against us.”
He paused, looking directly at the front row where the loyal board members sat.
“They failed,” Daniel declared.
The auditorium erupted into applause.
“They failed because Whitmore Enterprises is not built on stock prices or private trusts,” Daniel continued, gesturing toward me. “It is built on truth, integrity, and unyielding strength. Today, I am proud to announce that our merger with the Sterling Group has been officially finalized, increasing our capital reserves by forty percent.”
He turned to look at me, smiling warmly.
“And effective immediately, the Board of Directors has unanimously voted to appoint Eleanor Whitmore as Chairman Emeritus for life, while I assume full operational leadership as Chief Executive Officer.”

The entire room stood up, giving us a thunderous, three-minute standing ovation.
I stood beside my son, raising my hand in gratitude. I looked out over the sea of cheering faces, knowing that every storm we had weathered had only made our foundation stronger.
